Baseball star Juan Soto has signed the most lucrative contract in sports history, reports ESPN.

ESPN’s Jeff Passan says that Soto’s 15-year giant deal with the New York Mets is worth $765 million. Adjusted at the current exchange rate, the amount is approximately 724 million euros. The total value of the contract can eventually rise to more than 800 million dollars with the bonuses.

The player born in the Dominican Republic will also receive a signing fee of 75 million.

The former MLB record remains Shohei Ohtani the contract he signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers a year ago: ten years, $700 million.

Another New York giant, the Yankees, as well as the Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays were also on Soto’s heels.

Soto, 26, played last season in a Yankees jersey. The season ended with a World Series loss to the Dodgers, 1–4.

Soto has been playing in the MLB since the 2018 season. In addition to the Yankees, he has represented the Washington Nationals and the San Diego Padres.

Soto has been selected to the All-Star Four times and awarded with the Silver Slugger Award five times. He has won the World Series or MLB championship once, in the ranks of the Nationals in the 2019 season.
