Disconnection of Roshydromet from satellite bases of European countries will not affect its work, Minister Alexander Kozlov said

The European Organization for the Exploitation of Satellites (Eurometstat) has made Russia stronger by restricting its access to satellite data, said the head of the Ministry of Natural Resources Alexander Kozlov at the board of Roshydromet, the press service of the ministry reports. Still, “what the European meteorological organizations are doing now” is surprising, he said.

Kozlov recalled that Russia has its own constellation of meteorological satellites in orbit, and Arktika-M has been operating since February last year, “information that everyone needs. “They wanted to weaken us? They made us stronger!” the minister said.

According to him, Roshydromet has gained “tremendous experience”, so that disconnection from common bases will not affect its work.

Eurometstat Member States decided limit access of Russia and Belarus to satellite data on March 22. The organization also ended its collaboration with Roshydromet, which included data sharing and training. The decisions were taken “in accordance with the sanctions imposed by Member States and international partners.”

The Ministry of Agriculture called the forecast of Roshydromet on grain information stuffing
