The Ministry of Industry and Trade will prepare its proposals on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin to work out the resumption of the program for the recycling of old cars, under which their owners should receive a discount when buying a new car, RBC was told in the press service of the department.

After the ministry submits its proposals, they will be discussed in the government and presented to the head of state.

Businesses will be given a year before tightening waste disposal rules

Earlier, on February 3, Putin at an online meeting with members of the business association “Business Russia” instructed First Deputy Prime Minister Andrey Belousov to work on the resumption of the program for the recycling of old cars with the participation of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Belousov took the idea positively and said that in 2014 and 2015 it seriously stimulated demand in the automotive market.
