The first trailer for the “Minecraft” film gave nothing good. The network community tossed the brightly colored pictures and bad jokes. The memory of unsuccessful games films will not fade so quickly.
Some fans of the extremely popular computer game, which is available on many consoles in addition to the PC, and basically leaves completely free hand while playing, were able to appease the subsequent teas of teas.
The anticipation for the film with Jack Black as Steve and Jason Momoa as a Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison is especially large for very young children in primary school age. Most of the time they are not yet allowed to touch the game, but the pixel figures (because they also exist from Lego) may not be stirring.
But what it looks like is the way to the cinema blocked. Although all trailers for the “Minecraft” film from 6 years were released, the determination of the voluntary self-control of the film industry is now: FSK 12! The presentation of violence and threats are the reasons for the assessment. It does not become more specific on the FSK website.
“Minecraft” film: How exactly about the FSK?
In the meantime, concerned parents already called in cinemas to ask whether it is not a mistake. On their websites, the first custody houses therefore point out that this requirement must be enforced.
However, children under the age of 12 can also go to films that are released as FSK 12. According to the German Youth Protection Act (§ 11 JuschG), children from the age of six, accompanied by a legal guardian, can also see films with an FSK-12 approval.
However, parents should of course assess themselves whether the film is suitable for the little ones. As it says, the film will be checked again on April 2nd and, if necessary, adapted to FSK 6. The “Super Mario Bros. Film” already caused excitement two years ago because it was only released from the age of six and many parents wanted to go to the cinema with their youngest. Here, however, the regulation is stricter to protect the children; Access with adult companions is not possible.
A point that many parents could bring in discussions with their offspring: the “Minecraft” game is released from the age of six (USK 6).
The plot of the “Minecraft” film revolves around four outsider-Garrett, Henry, Natalie and Dawn-which is unexpectedly transported to Minecraft’s block world. There you have to use your creativity to survive, defend yourself against threats such as Piglins and Zombies and find a way back home.
Fans are already disappointed
The shooting took place in Auckland, New Zealand, and the film will come to cinemas on April 4, 2025. Whether the film is suitable for younger children or not, fans of the game are fundamentally disappointed.
Many criticize the decision to design the film in live action format with CGI elements instead of choosing a fully animated implementation that would have come closer to the aesthetics of the original game.
Some “Minecraft” supporters also express concerns about the action that is considered predictable and clichéd. The story is reminiscent of already known adventure film concepts. The first reviews of pre -screenings have not yet existed.
