BTS announce the title of their comeback album. The highly anticipated album, the group’s first studio album since 2020’s “Be,” will be called Arirang. The name comes from a traditional Korean folk song that is well known both in Korea and worldwide.
Meaning of the album title Arirang
The song has long been associated with feelings of connection, distance and reunion. According to the press release, the album is a deeply reflective work that explores BTS’ identity and roots.
The press release goes on to say that the band consciously chose this title because the emotional depth of “Arirang” – longing, desire and the rhythm of life – resonates strongly with their current journey as a group. The new album addresses universal emotions such as longing and love. It is intended to resonate with global audiences as a timeless legacy across generations and cultures.
To mark the announcement, digital billboards with the new album’s logo appeared in numerous metropolises. Including New York, Tokyo, London and Paris.
Release date and fan information
As previously announced, “Arirang” will be released on March 20th. Even before the official confirmation, the seven members had hinted at their return with handwritten messages to selected fans for the New Year. In these letters they alluded to a soon reunion with their loyal ARMY fan base. And cryptically noted the date March 20, 2026.
“We have waited more seriously than anyone else,” RM wrote. “The year we’ve been waiting for is finally here,” Jimin added. “In 2026 we will create even more beautiful memories. Look forward to it,” said V.
Work on the album and musical approach
The band has been working together in the studio again since July and promised an album that reflects the thoughts and ideas of each individual member. BTS already stated last year that they would approach the new work with the same attitude as at the beginning of their career.
At the same time, the group announced that they were planning a world tour parallel to the album. They want to visit fans all over the world and hope that the anticipation is as great as they are.
World tour 2026 to 2027
In support of the album, BTS will mark their live return with an extensive tour starting in April and running until March 2027. Further dates are yet to be announced. The BTS world tour is scheduled to kick off on April 9th in Goyang, South Korea.
The band will play several evenings in each city. Planned stops include Tokyo, Mexico City, Las Vegas, Busan, London, Paris, Chicago, Toronto, East Rutherford, Buenos Aires, Sydney, Bangkok, Hong Kong and Manila. BTS are giving their only two Germany concerts in Munich.
