Luis Suarez37, was saving the life of a desperate man during his Christmas vacation in his native Uruguay.
Suárez was walking with his wife in the beach resort of Ciudad de la Costa when they happened upon a situation where a 49-year-old man had climbed a six-meter tree and tied a rope around his neck.
The man threatened to take his own life if his female friend was not brought to the scene.
The rescuers found the football star representing Inter Miami and asked him for help.
Suárez spoke to the man for the fact that life was too precious to lose by one’s own hand.
– Luis approached the man very humanely and empathetically. He managed to create a dialogue that helped defuse the situation, the woman involved in the rescue operation described Telenoche for Uruguay.
It took more than 20 hours to save the man.
Suárez, who wreaked havoc with his goals in Ajax, Liverpool and Barcelona, moved to the MSL league Inter Miami in December of last year.
Last season, one of the all-time greats scored 20 goals for his team.
