The Lovie in Poperinge is unpacking with a sailing terrace

After 2 years of building the sailing terrace with control in our own studio, the time has finally come. The pontoon sails out with the public for the first time. Everything has been thought of: a sturdy high railing, a ramp and hooks to anchor a wheelchair. Once everyone is installed, the sailing terrace slowly moves away from the jetty under its own power.

The wheels are powered by an electric wheelchair motor. You can steer with the joystick of the trolley. Should something technically go wrong, the employees are trained to use push sticks to get the sailing terrace back to the bank.

The technicians of ‘De Lovie’ have had a lot of work to realize this project with many challenges: the hydraulics, drive, control, stability and safety.
