“The Lord of the Rings” – Amazon announces series title

The Lord of the Rings series adaptation finally has a name. The streaming platform Amazon Prime announced that the new series expected for 2022 will be titled “Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power”.

“This is a title that we envision could sit on the spine alongside JRR Tolkien’s other classics,” said showrunners JD Payne and Patrick McKay.

And more details about the series became known: “The Ring of Power” is intended to unite all the important stories of the Second Age of Middle-earth: the forging of the rings, the rise of the Dark Lord Sauron, the epic story of Númenor and the last alliance of elves and people. So far, only the story of the one ring has made it onto the big screen, but there were many rings before the one ring. “We’re excited to tell these epic stories,” say the series developers.

The Second Age of Middle-earth takes place thousands of years before the events known to us from The Lord of the Rings. Set in a time of relative peace, the series follows an ensemble cast of characters as they confront the return of the long-feared evil to Middle-earth.

The cast includes Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur, Maxim Baldry, Nazanin Boniadi and Morfydd Clark, among others.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is slated to release on September 2nd on Amazon Prime Video.
