Milano, 4 December. (askanews) – Irreverent and very provocative, not a musical like the others, The Book of Mormon arrives in Italy for the first time ever at the TAM Teatro Arcimboldi Milan from 10 to 21 December 2025. With explosive and intelligent comedy, the show tells the story of two young Mormon missionaries, Elder Price and Elder Cunningham, sent to Uganda to convert the villagers to Mormonism. However, the reality they encounter, marked by poverty, war, disease and desperation, tests their religious beliefs and forces them to confront the distance between idealized doctrine and real life.

The Book of Mormon was born from the meeting of the creative genius of Trey Parker and Matt Stone, brilliant authors of the television series South Park with Robert Lopez (author of the songs from the Disney films Frozen and Coco).

“People think we sit down and say, OK, now how can we be offensive? What can we do that’s really tough and who can we make angry? But that’s not where we start, we want to tell the best story.”

“Being a somewhat minority religion in America, most people outside of Utah don’t know much about it. You can learn about Mormons and you can laugh at them, but then at the end of the day, we’re trying to create something bigger, something that relates to all religions and even all histories and cultures and how they’re passed on.”

After its debut in 2011 in New York, where it won nine Tony Awards, the musical hit the theater box office, reaching the historic box office record in the Big Apple and quickly becoming a cult phenomenon.

The Book of Mormon is considered the most irreverent, hilarious and politically incorrect musical ever which changed the world of talking about religion and doing entertainment.
