The gala against cancer raises 312,000 euros in one night in Barcelona

More than 500 people have participated this Thursday in the Maritime Museum of Barcelona in the Solidarity Night who organizes the Association Against Cancera gala for fundraising that allow progress in investigation against cancer and help improve the lives of patients and their families. By the end of the night, €312,000 had been raised.

The gala, led by the journalist Maria Gomezthe president of the association, Laureano Molinswho stressed the importance of the involvement of society in the fight against cancer: “The collaboration of all is vital to meet our main objective for this 2023, which is to reach 70% cancer survival. To achieve this, it is essential to bet on research.”

Under the motto ‘We can all help’, the gala premiere format: a ‘showcooking’ directed by the chez Ada Parellada who, through each of the dishes on the menu, took a tour of the daily work of the association. For the preparation of each dish, Parellada had the ‘help’ of various dinner attendees. Thus, for example, with the appetizer, prepared hand in hand with the scientific director of the Spanish Association Against Cancer martha puyol and with the presenter Txabi FranquesaI seek to raise awareness about the importance of research.

The entree, prepared with Olga Munozresponsible for the physical well-being of the association, and with David Caraben, singer of Mishsima, focused on promoting healthy habits. The main dish, prepared together with the association’s manager and psychologist angela sanchez and with the ‘streamer’ gerard romero, conveyed the importance of asking for help and sharing. Finally, the desserts, prepared by the presenter of the act herself and by the volunteer Esther Vincentsought to convey the key message: “We can all help.”

One of the most emotional moments of the night was the testimony of Cristina Agnes (@mamasevaalaguerra), ‘influencer’, writer and cancer survivor, who reflected on the importance of investing in cancer research.

Among those attending the Solidarity Night, which ended with a performance by Mishima, there were also Carlos PrietoGovernment delegate in Catalonia, and Carlos Campuzano‘conseller’ of Drets Socials of the Generalitat de Catalunya.

The Association Against Cancer in Barcelona has more than 48,000 members and has 86 professionals and 2,400 volunteers.
