Reijo Jylhä wrapped the main speeches for Sunday’s Finnish Championships.

Petteri Koivisto and Miro Karppanen were the toughest male skiers at the Taivalkoski Championships at the weekend.

Koivisto of the Puijo Ski Club won a free ten on Friday and was sacred third in the fifty. Karppanen from Imatra Athletes grabbed silver and 50 kilometers of gold from ten.

Despite the handsome performance, they have a hearty situation.

– These screens would get to the World Cup, but the season is over. This spring’s Finnish Championships will not be worth anything next fall, says Iltalehti Ski Specialist Reijo Jylhä.

The goal of the Finnish Champions is to reach the Olympics next winter, but they are not part of the A national team.

– The screens must be given at the beginning of next season in every race to get the World Cup. First at the Olos cannon race and then Ruka in the Finnish Cup. Karppanen and Koivisto are in the knife in every single race at the beginning of next season.

Jylhä gives an example of Naseva.

Remi Lindholm The season did not go better in the big picture than Karppanen, but he was still the Seiska of the World Cup and the tenth in the Falun World Cup. They are of a completely different class than Miro’s spring winter screens.

National team seat in a tight

Miro Karppanen is a Finnish champion of 50 kilometers. Jussi Saarinen

Karppanen was sixteenth in the Lahti World Cup at 50 kilometers. It’s the best MC investment in your career.

Koivisto did not reach the World Cup in the 2024-25 season.

– This is a difficult situation for Koivisto and Karppanen, when there are no international racing displays – especially Koivisto.

Less often, the spring winter Championship bets have been sufficient for the A-team for the next basic training season.

– Miro is certainly strong in the discussions whether the spring performance could be enough for the national team. General skiers are needed and he can ski all trips, Jylhä estimates.

-Petter’s situation is much more challenging because he has only two Taivalkoski Championships, the expert adds.

Kyllönen out?

From experienced skiers Anne Kyllönen You will drop out of the national team.

– The place will definitely not go. It is up to what is emphasized. I bet that when the same investments have 10-15 years younger and almost the same earnings balance, and the big picture has not had the desired results, the national team spot is tight.

The 37-year-old Konkari reached the Sprint semi-finals with the quarter-finals of Ruka and was eighth in the race. It remained the highlight of the season. The second best MC investment was 25th.

– You could say it was about sawing the rest. Somewhere those years are visible.

On the other hand, Kyllönen earlier in the 2020s applied for a boost from the B national team and later returned to the A team.

– Anne’s results are not dependent on national team activities as younger.

Niskanen rolled

Anne Kyllönen fell ill in the 2024-25 season. Of course, the Kainuu -based competition season continues with one spring on Lapland. Jussi Saarinen

Kerttu Niskanen Last weekend competed in Iisalmi and this weekend in Taivalkoski in a total of three Finnish Cup starts and won them all.

In Northern Ostrobothnia, the fifteenth and sixteenth personal Finnish championship slipped into the pocket.

– Give Kerttu appreciate. He was in the race and still in good shape, Jylhä boasts.

On Sunday Niskanen won a 30-mile free SM gold with a two-minute difference Vilma.

– It was still skiing in the international skiing, so a good performance.

Niskanen offered Vilma Ryyty, who rose to SM silver in the last 7.1 kilometer round.

– Ryytty is a phenomenal pester. In the World Cup this season, he took his tough results with good pies.
