The Genshin Impact player needs to put money in the bag and keep their fingers crossed. This has attracted the interest of the authorities in the United States.

In Genshin Impact, in order to expand the character pool, you often have to dig into the image. However, it may remain unclear to many players how much the rarest characters really cost.

A role-playing game released in 2020 Genshin Impact has become very popular. The game features a large number of different anime-inspired characters with their own unique styles of fighting against other characters.

Genshin Impact is developed by China’s Mihoyo and published by Singapore’s Hoyoverse. It was one of the first Chinese video games to achieve great popularity in the United States.

The Mobile version of the game has brought Mihoyo more than six billion dollars in earnings. However, the money has been earned in a way that many find objectionable.

If a Genshin Impact player wants a specific character, it cannot be purchased directly. The player has to buy “wishes” with real money, i.e. in practice lottery tickets and hope that they will get the character they want.

Games based on this are also called Gacha– as games. They have been published in East Asian countries for a long time, but the phenomenon only reached Western countries with Genshin Impact.

News agency Bloomberg now says that Genshin Impact has been under scrutiny by the US Trade Commission since at least last summer. According to Bloomberg, the Trade Commission has been most interested in the game’s so-called “five-star characters”.

The process for acquiring five-star characters can be misleading to the Trade Commission. This is due to the fact that the price of the in-game money is not sufficiently clear to the players. To buy them, the player has to exchange real money into two different virtual currencies in a row.

If the trade commission considers the game’s earning logic inappropriate, some players may receive compensation for their purchases. The Commission may issue a decision on the matter as early as this week.

Cognoverse, the company that distributes Genshin Impact, declined to comment on the trade commission case to Bloomberg. Bloomberg did not receive a statement from the Trade Commission on the matter either.

Other games have also had to pay players money back by the decision of the Trade Commission. Gamerant reported last month that $72 million in compensation would be paid to Fortnite players.

Fortnite is not a gacha game, meaning players didn’t need to draw a lottery to see if they would get the thing or object they wanted with their purchase. However, the placement of the game’s buttons was such that it made players buy things even by accident.
