Paralympic champion Pistorius shot his girlfriend By Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine’s Day in 2013. He shot Steenkamp four times through the bathroom door of his home, claiming he mistook his spouse for a burglar.

A parole hearing was held in Atteridgeville prison in South Africa on Friday, where it was decided to release Pistorius. He had served half of his prison sentence, which he received in 2017.

Pistorius was initially sentenced to five years in prison for the manslaughter in 2014, but three years later the sentence was changed. He is currently serving a sentence of 13 years and five months for murder.
