The F1 championship is concentrated in the state of Nevada this weekend.
The neon lights of Las Vegas welcomed the McLaren duo by Lando Norris and Oscar Piastribut the team’s engineers were more concerned about Thursday night’s cool temperatures.
Only 17 degrees were measured on the surface of the track, which meant that no part of the data collected earlier in the season was actually usable.
Ferrari’s was the fastest in the first practice sessions Charles Leclerc. In the second practice, the Monaco native proved what the weak grip of the Las Vegas track means in practice.
He actually slid the Ferrari straight towards the safety fence of the main bend, but luckily his car was stopped before the collision.
Las Vegas is still learning how to host F1. This year too, training had to be interrupted for almost 20 minutes due to a loose drain cover.
After that, the cars were allowed on the track for another moment, which was enough for Leclerc to break the Ferrari’s gearbox.

In the end, the jury had to stop the races early because the drain cover still didn’t stay in place.
Two years ago Carlos Sainz drove over a loose sump in Las Vegas and practically broke the Ferrari’s entire substructure. Thursday showed that the organizers are still not completely in control.
Norris, who leads the World Series, remained at the top of the results list, but teammate Piastri couldn’t complete a competitive round at all. Aussikuski was only 14th fastest.
– Oscar had to stop his round. Everything looks good, McLaren boss Zak Brown told Sky Sports.
