Bono and The Edge covered ABBA’s ‘SOS’ for BBC Radio. During their performance in the Radio 2 Piano Room they were supported by the concert orchestra. In the total 57-minute post the two U2 members also played newly interpreted pieces of their own, which will be on “Songs of Surrender”. The album, consisting of 40 new versions of older songs, will be released this Friday (March 17).

It has been known for a long time that U2 are big ABBA fans. As early as 1992, Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson performed during a U2 concert with “Dancing Queen”. In addition, singer Bono read an excerpt from his autobiography Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story. This will probably also be presented in the newly built MSG-Sphere in Las Vegas, where the band will do a few shows this year. Drummer Larry Mullen Jr will not be supporting U2 as he has had to cancel due to health issues.
