The State Duma honored the memory of Vladimir Zhirinovsky with a minute of silence. On the death of a 75-year-old politician Vyacheslav Volodin, speaker of the Duma, announced at the plenary session. He noted that Zhirinovsky died after a severe and prolonged illness. After a minute of silence, the deputies interrupted the work of the lower house of the Russian parliament for an hour. The work of the Parliament will resume on April 6 at 14:00.
Zhirinovsky did not live 19 days before his 76th birthday. In 1989, he founded the Liberal Democratic Party of the Soviet Union (later renamed the LDPR) together with Vladimir Bogachev. Since 1993, he has worked in all compositions of the State Duma. Vladimir Zhirinovsky was hospitalized at the Central Clinical Hospital on February 9, 2022 with coronavirus. Later, his condition worsened, and he needed to be connected to a ventilator. The Ministry of Health of Russia assured that the doctors fought to the last for the life of the politician.
The LDPR called the death of its party leader “strike all over Russia” and the army of his supporters.
The speaker of the Russian parliament Vyacheslav Volodin called the death of Vladimir Zhirinovsky an irreparable loss. Andrey Klishas, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation, called Zhirinovsky a bright politician and a true patriot.
