Francisco Oneto, who defines himself in his networks as a “God-level lawyer,” does not have it easy. One of his clients is Javier Milei. The other, a certain “Fred” Machado, convicted by North American Justice for alleged drug trafficking and fraud. From the United States they demand his extradition, and the Argentine Supreme Court, quick on reflexes in the midst of this scandal, has just approved it. But the final word lay with the Executive Branch, that is, the President.

And it is at this point where poor Oneto went into a short circuit and showed that there is an obvious incompatibility in having two clients as dissimilar as a head of state and an alleged drug trafficker who, as is now known, put 200 thousand dollars to the main political ally of that ruler. So that there are no doubts: what should Oneto have said to each of his two most famous clients? The President should have been advised the obvious: to sign Machado’s extradition, as he did, because otherwise he would be disgraced in the eyes of the world. But, what did “Fred” recommend? If he had been loyal to him, Oneto would have had to fight for him not to be extradited, and he would have had to convince Milei of that. But, between his two representatives, he chose the most powerful and washed his hands of the other: poor Machado.

It has already been written in this column about the controversial lawyer, who also has or had among his clients José Luis Espert, the scammer Leonardo Cositorto and the murderous rugby player Máximo Thomsen, in addition to Leopoldo Luque, the doctor accused of the death of Diego Maradona. All the bad ones. How did you gain Milei’s trust? It is very likely that in the same way that he did before with Espert, through his friend and colleague Diego Spagnuolo, the other lawyer shared by the President and the bald economist, and who a few weeks ago became an uncomfortable celebrity for his audios about the 3 percent bribes in Disability. Spagnuolo approached Oneto and Espert and then repeated the operation with Milei.

The big question is who brought him closer to “Fred” Machado before. And why the alleged drug trafficker continues to share a lawyer with the same president who just approved his extradition.
