The Cure unearth real gems for American tour

The Cure kicked off their first North American tour in seven years on Wednesday (May 10) with a performance at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans.

Robert Smith’s band performed a total of 29 songs, including songs from their forthcoming album Songs of a Lost World. Saving the best for last though, during the encore they played “A Thousand Hours” from “Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me” as well as “Six Different Ways” from “The Head on the Door”. Both songs were performed live for the first time since 1987.

Robert Smith also caused a stir before the tour when he swept hundreds of tickets off the black market. He also tweeted derisively about King Charles’ coronation ceremony last Saturday (May 6).
