The Cure keyboardist Roger O’Donnell responds to Weller’s insults to Robert Smith

Roger O’Donnell, keyboardist for The Cure, reacted to Paul Weller’s derogatory comments about Robert Smith on Wednesday (09 November). O’Donnell shows solidarity with his bandmates.

The musician reportedly addressed Weller on Twitter, saying: “I always thought, like Spike Milligan said, that people who live in glass houses should pull down the blinds before they take their pants off… Mr. Weller? “

O’Donnell’s post is no longer available on Twitter. Smith himself has not yet responded to Weller’s statements.

The background to O’Donnell’s reaction

Paul Weller, former singer with The Jam, had Smith during one Interviews with “Record Collector” titled, among other things, “fat cunt with lipstick”.

The reasons for the musician’s strong dislike for the singer of The Cure are not clear. It is only speculated that various past events could have led to the antipathy.
