Save the Children has submitted a deletion request to Wikipedia.
Wikipedia is an online encyclopedia.
The Save the Children organization has submitted a request to remove the cover image of the German rock band Scorpions’ old album from its Finnish Wikipedia page.
Given by the organization deletion request concerns Virgin Killer album cover. The organization has received a notification about the photo through its own Nettipihje service.
In its removal request, Save the Children appeals to the fact that the image is material related to sexual violence against children. According to the organization, the image should be removed from the article or access to the material should be blocked.
The original picture shows an almost completely nude picture of a girl child. Since then, another cover image has been made for the album, in which the Scorpions band is seen in black and white.
The organization’s communication has been commented on to the person who first reported the matter about the removal request To Yle.
– When Nettivihje receives a tip, we evaluate the individual images as images and do not take into account, for example, the context of the image. In this removal request, Nettivihje has assessed that the image sexualizes a child and possibly fulfills the criteria of an image that presents a child sexually, Yle is told about the communication.
The album’s original cover image is also displayed, for example, on the album’s English page. The album’s cover image has caused a stir before, at least in Britain, where six of the country’s largest network service providers denied access to the Wikipedia page in 2008.
Virgin Killer is Scorpions’ fourth album. It appeared in 1976.
