The Court of Cassation overturned the decision on a preventive measure in the form of a ban on certain actions for the founder of the Baring Vostok investment fund, Michael Calvey.
Calvey was detained in February 2019 after a statement by Sherzod Yusupov, a minority shareholder of Vostochny Bank. Initially, Calvey was placed under arrest. In particular, representatives of four associations with the participation of foreign business and the RSPP asked to change his preventive measure. In April 2019, Calvey was placed under house arrest, and in November 2020, the Supreme Court changed his preventive measure to prohibit certain actions. In August 2021, Calvey and other defendants in the case were sentenced to suspended sentences.
