Even today, the core cabinet has not been able to reach an agreement on the reforms of the index and VAT. Since the government decided two weeks ago to save 9.2 billion euros, the precise effect of the savings is pending. The chance that, for example, the penny index will come into effect at the beginning of 2026 is therefore becoming increasingly smaller.
