Since Javier Milei had fun providing endless reasons to hate him who did not militate by his side, it was anticipated that the day that the disagreement of his management would gather efforts to remind him to remind him that, as presidentialist that is the national political order, it is not a dictator and therefore he has to respect certain rules. It is what most legislators did just over a week ago by voting in favor of measures that are incompatible with the fiscal balance that enabled the abrupt fall of the inflation rate and gave the libertarian a political capital great enough to allow him to dream of a prolonged period of hegemony in which Argentina would make Argentina a world power. Since the country is in full electoral season, all politicians feel forced to call attention to their solidarity with those who have less.

However, the indignation that seized Milei, who believed that it would be given with impunity to the deputies who in their opinion are parasites who have become accustomed to living in the ribs of the rest of the country, when they chose to ignore the antipathatic economic reality that he has tried to sacralize would be understood. Did they do it because they supposed to soften the adjustment would not have negative consequences, because they had concluded that Milei is such a dangerous subject that it must be stopped even when doing so means returning to the time of the plans tells the plans with hyperinflation to the stalking, or because they only thought of giving him a rapopoly to learn to treat them a little better?

The future of Argentina will depend on such questions to such questions. It may be feasible to redistribute more equitably the costs of fierce adjustment that Milei launched, but it is not necessary to be an ultra -liberal economist to understand that abandoning it at this point and to spend silver manufactured by the little machine would be a tragic error. Although it is hard to believe that, with the eventual exception of Cristina Kirchner and her adherents more fanatized, there are many politicians who would prefer that the country sink to allow the current government to remain in power for a long time, this does not mean that others are unable to work like this.

After all, there have always been politicians and others intimately convinced that mathematics is anti-Argentina and that it is therefore lawful to challenge it for what they usually qualify as moral reasons. Such characters can only feel tempted to recidivate traditional facilism. Among the prone are the hierarchs of the Catholic Church, all enemies of the damn numbers, which recently added their voices to the opposition choir, stating that “politics should not undergo the economy or this to technocracy”, words that undoubted They would say, more human.

Milei is committed to the majority recognizing that, without an unusual degree of fiscal discipline, there will be no way to prevent Argentina from degenerating in a gigantic misery villa, hence the categorical defense he made by national chain of his will to veto any bill that will threaten it. While on that occasion he refrained from using the rude insults that until very recently he used to attack his adversaries and even hesitating allies, he accused the legislators who supported the initiatives that he did not like to be saboteators who wanted to cause “a genocide.”

It exaggerated, of course, since there is a very large difference between the massive depauperation and the physical liquidation of millions of people belonging to a certain ethnicity, but it happens that Milei looks like the earthly representative of the harsh economic reality, while in his opinion his critics are fantasy sensitive, heirs of those who, over the years, with a perverse mixture of mental weakness, ran They fixed them to ruin one of the most promising countries on the planet.

Milei would love to prohibit fiscal irresponsibility by law, fine or, perhaps, imprisoning those legislators or officials who do not comply with rules that have to be inviolable. It is not a proposal would be. Although it would be positive for the electorate to get used to punishing politicians who formulate promises that at first glance seem attractive but that walking time would only serve to aggravate the situation of the most vulnerable, beginning with retirees, in no democracy govern laws aimed at forcing politicians to distinguish between the allegedly desirable in the short term and the positive in the long term.

Anyway, one thing is the attitude assumed by Milei against the economic disaster that the country has starred and a very different is the extreme eccentricity that characterizes it. Although repudiating his behavior and considering his beliefs ridiculous, he does not have to feel any enthusiasm for economic irrationality, in current Argentina it is not easy to distinguish between the two aspects of a president who has managed to combine financial realism with religious esotericism and an extraordinary degree of verbal aggressiveness.

It is for this reason that its extravagant way of behaving puts at risk not only its own political project, which consists in replacing Peronism for its very particular version of the libertarian creed so that it is “the common sense of Argentines”, but also the economic recovery of the country. It would seem that Milei has realized that the Barriobajero style that had made his own undermine the macroeconomic program that, to applause many both here and outside and perplexity of others has undertaken, hence the public commitment to stop using soec insults, often with sexual oversuits, to mortify their critics.

Badly that the president weighs, politics matters. As much as I would like the citizens to buy without examining it a package that, in addition to containing a praisely compromise with fiscal rigor, includes a multitude of extras recommended, so that their prosper project will have to moderate their speech and be willing to discuss in a civilized way with whom they do not share all their ideas. Although Milei’s followers in the networks have persuaded him that it was largely thanks to his rhetorical excesses that he managed to defeat “the caste” political in 2023 and that it would be suicidal to try to reconcile with the bulk of its members, that parliamentary rebellion against certain aspects of the adjustment will have taught him that it would be convenient to recognize that Argentina remains a democracy in which the presidential power has its limits.

The same as Mauricio Macri at the time, Milei has made Kirchner the enemy to beat. Was it a strategic mistake? It is likely. In all political systems, to appear as the main opposition force at a very difficult stage is a desirable role and there is no doubt that Kirchnerism has benefited from the official decision to locate it in that role. Likewise, proclaiming the world that Argentina is forced to choose between a novel movement that is on construction and the return of an already consolidated one that is famous for having surrendered to corruption at an industrial scale, the “capitalism of friends” and inflationism, makes it understandable that the country risk index has remained at a very high level. It is largely the fault of Milei that, in the opinion of “the markets”, Argentina could fall on Kirchnerism to transform into a southern version of the Venezuelan Chavista.

The striking benevolence of the home arrest regime that former president Cristina is enjoying the country has also influenced the international image of the country. To restlessness, he continues to act as the most influential boss of the political faction that, according to the Government, heads the opposition to the reforms he is trying to carry out. The doctor may still be prohibited from participating fully in the electoral campaigns that are about to enter their decisive phases and that a lot of electronic ankle that symbolizes her condition as convicts, but such inconveniences separately, Cristina does not have too many reasons to complain.

Everywhere, it is normal for those who are not in power take advantage of the opportunities provided by the Government to criticize it. A few days pass without Milei delivering a new one. While the controversies that unleashed serve to keep it in the center of the stage, it also exposes it to the risk that, if fortune stops smiling, even those who approve “the course” that has set for the economy and accept, even when it has been with resignation, all the measures you have taken to make inflation go back, judge that it would be better for the country that would give way to a leader of similar ideas much less complicated.
