Former president María Estela “Isabelita” Martínez de Perón turned 95 years old at her residence in Villafranca del Castillo, in the Community of Madrid, where she has lived since the beginning of the 1980s, after leaving Argentina in 1981: after the death of Juan Domingo Perón, she assumed the Presidency of the Nation and was arrested after the military coup of 1976, remaining deprived of her freedom for more than five years under the last dictatorship. civil-military.

The anniversary took place in a strictly private setting. Since his arrival in Spain, Martínez de Perón has maintained a low profile and a life marked by isolation, with few public appearances and very limited social contact, a characteristic that manifested itself again during this celebration.

The meeting was limited and was attended by some Argentine residents in Spain and representatives of cultural organizations that in recent years have claimed their role. In 2024 he received at his home the “Hispanic Award 2023”, awarded by the Spanish association Preserva, in one of the few public recognitions that he accepted privately. On social networks, expressions of greeting were few and came mainly from people in his immediate environment.

Currently, the former president resides in a large home, located within a closed property, with strict security measures that reinforce her life away from public spaces. The property has an extensive perimeter and control systems that limit access to previously authorized people.

Martínez de Perón receives private medical care on a regular basis and has a food and medication provision system that allows him to avoid frequent outings. His economic situation is supported through pensions and assets managed by trusted people, which guarantees stability without public exposure.

Isabel Peron

His daily routine is reserved and predictable. He dedicates much of his time to private activities such as reading, religious practices and light exercises appropriate to his age. Visits are infrequent and are generally limited to friends who occasionally travel to Madrid. Their appearances in public spaces, such as masses, have been sporadic in recent years and always took place without interaction with the environment.

Exceptionally, their isolation has been interrupted by specific encounters. In October 2024, he received Vice President Victoria Villarruel at his residence, on an institutional visit. Likewise, he maintained private correspondence with Pope Francis, who sent him messages on significant dates.
