Brandon Blackstock died of skin cancer. On Monday, Dan Hollis, forensic doctor of Silver Bow County, confirmed Opposite Rolling Stone that Kelly Clarkson’s ex-husband died of a melanoma on August 7th.
Family reaction and course of the disease
“He died Friedlich in his home in Butte, Montana, under hospice care, surrounded by his family,” said Hollis. He confirmed that the cause of death was natural.
Shortly after his death at the age of 48, the family of the talent manager published a message in which she announced his death, but gave only a few details about his illness. “We share with great sadness that Brandon Blackstock died. Brandon brave bravely against cancer for more than three years,” said the family. “He died peacefully and was surrounded by his family.”
The family asked for thoughts, prayers and about respecting privacy in this difficult time. There will be no further comments on Blackstock’s death.
Connection to Kelly Clarkson
The news of Blackstock’s death came only one day after Clarkson moved several Las Vegas show dates to be “fully” with her family and children, while Blackstock fought with his illness, which was not known until then. “Even if I don’t normally share my private life, my children’s father was sick last year and at that moment …” she wrote on Instagram on Wednesday before his death.
Blackstock and Clarkson started a relationship in 2012, married in 2013 and received two children: daughter River (born 2014) and son Remington (born 2016). He was also the former stepson of Reba Mcentire, who was married to his father Narvel Blackstock at the time. Blackstock had two other children, Savannah and Seth from an earlier marriage. In 2022 he became a grandfather when his eldest daughter Savannah got a son.
