The catering industry in Deurne is convinced: they can open again next week. According to them, the press conference next Tuesday will bring good news, but just to be sure – and also to increase the pressure towards The Hague – they will quickly take action.

All catering establishments in Deurne and the surrounding village centers have hung flags. “We hope that this action will spread like an oil slick all over the Netherlands,” says Leon Thijssen of the Thijssen hall from Vlierden.

According to Leny van den Eijnden, of the catering organization Baroef, it is mainly the uncertainty that drives her and her colleagues to despair. “Our staff also wants clarity. So we said: we will open again on Wednesday.”

Marjo van Hoek of restaurant De Potlid is even more certain: “If we can open as quickly as we had to close, we might just be open again tomorrow.”
