Wolfsburg airport in Germany witnessed a scary situation on Sunday evening when a Boeing 737 plane caught fire on the runway.

The pilots then quickly stopped the plane and evacuated all passengers. According to airport officials, no one was injured in the situation.

Witnesses said that a loud bang had been heard from the plane before the flames had erupted. According to the airport spokesperson, the engine fire was caused by a bird.

On board the plane was the Arsenal women’s soccer team, which was leaving for the home trip to London at 19:30 local time. The team had just played against Wolfsburg in the semi-finals of the Champions League. The first leg ended 2–2.
