Ready meals save when hunger rumbles in the stomach and the rush presses on. There is a dizzying amount of choice in ready meals these days. The ready-made food shelves of the biggest supermarkets continue by the meter, and there are many options even for those following special diets.

The editors of Pippuri.fi Wind Lindgren and Eeva Paljakka listed their own favorite ready meals. These portions really taste just right.

Tuil’s favourites:

No Chicken Fajita Tortilla, Wicked Kitchen, 270 g (€5.49)

Inside the grilled tortilla is delicious fajita-flavored rice and beans, soy protein chunks, avocado and vegan cheese. You can eat the tortilla cold, but I personally recommend heating it up. The taste is very good and there is plenty of it. Tortilla tastes fresh and crisp, which is not always a given in ready meals.

Ragu pappardelle, Rebl Eats, 350 g (€8.35)

The meat-free portion containing wide pappardelle pasta, sauce and cherry tomatoes has 595 kilocalories, which means that this keeps you very hungry. The taste is rich, but once again fresh. Fennel tastes good in the sauce. The structure of pappardelle remains good even after heating. Like eating well-made home-cooked food. Fresh parsley sprinkled on top of the dish is also a plus.

Salmon tea, Kokkikartano, 700 g (€6.59)

Kokkikartano’s prepared meals usually always work if you are looking for traditional home cooking at a reasonable price. My favorite is a simple salmon tempura that the whole family will sink into. Rainbow salmon is used as the salmon bait fish, and the list of ingredients in the dish is delightfully short. In addition to fish and potatoes, the temptation contains only cream, onion and a few spices.

Vegetable pie, Hoviruoka Oy, 4×115 g (€3.65)

The vegetarian version of Lihis, Vihis, found its way to our dining table as soon as the product started to be prepared. Slice the pie, add some strong cheese and put the pie in the microwave so that the cheese melts properly. Finally, top with ketchup, and a smart evening snack is ready to be eaten even after the sauna. A perfect retro treat!

Eva’s favorites:

White Wood, classic lasagne 500 g frozen (€7.35)

Oh, oh, there’s no beating lasagna. Especially this one. From Ostrobothnia comes a real top, which is really like home-made. The only downside to lasagna in the store’s freezer is its size. Although it is meant for two, 250 grams per eater is a bit too small.

Saarioinen, Italy on a plate chicken and chanterelle risotto, 350 g (€5.69)

As special as it sounds, risotto can be good as a ready meal (we always remind you how important it is that risotto doesn’t wait for diners). Here Sikke Sumarin A delicious combination of mushrooms, chicken and creamy rice tastes delicious in the recipe designed by Saarioin. The mouthfeel of the rice is suitably snappy, and the flavors of the risotto are just right.

Lidl Chef select Fresh pesto, 120 g (€1.99)

There are ready-made washes in the store for many purposes. Lidl’s pesto should be stored in a cool place, and it won’t last for years, but the reason is clear: it’s FRESH pesto. The taste is excellent. You can really say that the price-quality ratio is right about this pesto.

OLO Creative Kitchen ground artichoke soup, 300 g (€4.39)

The velvety soft soup makes your tongue water. The taste of ground artichoke is irresistible. This soup is a true everyday luxury.

The prices of the products have been checked at K-Citymarket Tammisto, Kirkkonummi Prisma and Lidl. Prices may vary from store to store.
