John de Bever and his husband Kees failed to win the Gouden Televizier-Ring with De Bevers. The reality show of the singer had made it to the final and had to compete against Even Tot Hier (BNNVARA) and The Hunting Season (SBS6).
Dutch TV viewers were able to vote online and via SMS on Thursday evening from eight o’clock. The lines were closed at ten past nine.
The winner was announced live on TV from the Royal Theater Carré in Amsterdam, which was Even tot Hier. That program, made by comedians Niels van der Laan and Jeroen Woe, received 70 percent of the votes. The prize was presented by Snollebollekes Rob Kemps.

Yet there was Brabant’s glory. Frank Lammers, known from Undercover, was nominated as best actor. He defeated Angela Schijf and Tygo Gernandt. He was not live in the room because of recordings, but gave a thank you speech via a live stream in which he thanked his father and put the Iranian protesting women in the spotlight.

The Omroep Brabant radio program WAKKER campaigned for the show of ‘family friend’ John de Bever. The singer then promised to put a tattoo with the name of the radio program if he won. He also promised to put a tattoo of TV personality Johan Derksen, another friend of his who supported him.
There was also a lot of criticism on the nomination of De Bevers and the Hunting Season. According to critics, they were not big ratings hits and the shows were nominated mainly because of their large online following.
Editor-in-chief Jeroen de Goeij of the Televizier-gids, which organizes the gala, said earlier that such a sound can be heard more often. “But it is and remains the price of the audience. The connection that a program is able to make with the audience is also part of the appreciation. That part is also part of making television.”
