The American actor James Tolkan has died at the age of 94, says The Hollywood Reporter.
A representative of Tolkani’s family tells the newspaper that the actor died on Thursday in New York’s Saranac Lake village.
Tolkan was born on June 20, 1931 in Calumet, Michigan. He made his debut on the big screen in 1960 Naked City in the series.
Tolka is best remembered for the movie Back to the future (1985), in which he played the role of Mr. Strickland. Top Gun (1986), Tolkan played Commander Tom “Stringer” Jardian.
Tolka has also been seen in numerous other films such as The Law of Silence (1973), The Amityville Horror (1979), Wolfen (1981), War games (1983), Masters of the Universe (1987), True Blood (1989) and Opportunity Knocks (1990).
On the television side, Tolka has been seen, for example, in series Miami Vice, The Prince of Bel-Air, Summer 68 and Sly bastards.
Tolkan was married to his wife, who worked as a costume and set designer Parmelee with. The couple met in a Broadway production Pinkville in 1971.
