The band’s singer Jarkko Martikainen commented to Iltalehte that he had received a lot of messages regarding the matter in recent days. Martikainen has not seen the program yet, as he has been on tour.

– Interesting, Martikainen succinctly states right at the beginning.

– Jussi and I share different views on what a good social model is like. If that song inspires Jussia, then that’s fine. It’s moving that he has chosen that, because I always thought he was a metal man, Martikainen says.

Martikainen and Halla-aho have an interesting history, as the singer published in 2011 Halla-ahot song called In the same year, a politician from the Basic Finns was elected to parliament for the first time.

Not all listeners liked the song. Martikainen remembers how some of Halla-aho’s supporters sent him death threats.

– That song was a metaphor. I didn’t point it out directly to Jussi. I didn’t think it would rub off on the souls of some of his supporters. There was really harsh and very hostile feedback.

Martikainen remembers how he once felt bad when reading Halla-aho’s Scripta blog, where the politician presented his rather sharp opinions. Over the years, the writings have appeared at regular intervals. Halla-aho has not resigned from his writings, but has admitted that some of the comments were “stupid” and “ill-considered”.
