The 9th stage of the Tour de France – Aigle – Châtel les Portes du Soleil (192.9 km)

Status: 07/10/2022 08:37 a.m

Profile, animation and assessment – the 9th stage of the Tour de France 2022 at a glance

Assessment: The last section before the second rest day of the tour visits the terrain east of Lake Geneva in detail. With the start in Aigle, the headquarters of the World Cycling Federation, a first large loop begins before Aigle is crossed a second time. A total of three mountains of the 1st and 2nd category have to be climbed, but they are not difficult enough to seriously challenge the contenders for the overall victory. It is more likely that a breakaway group with strong climbing skills will break away and ultimately decide the day’s victory among themselves. The last peak of the day, the Pas de Morgins, is ten kilometers from the finish and is relatively easy to climb. In the last few kilometers, the peloton rolls back onto French soil, where the finish is in Chatel at around 1,300 meters above sea level.
