Last year, the athletes in the Hahnenkamm Race were surprised with high prize money. This year, an even larger sum is on offer again.

A sporting highlight is coming up in Kitzbühel: the Hahnenkamm race. The alpine ski racers compete in the Super-G, downhill and slalom from Friday to Sunday. It’s not just about prestige, but also about a record sum. As in the previous year, a total of 1,000,500 euros in prize money will be distributed.

The winner of each race can look forward to 100,000 euros. There are also impressive amounts for the places behind: the second place receives 50,000 euros, the third place receives 25,000 euros. Overall, the 30 best drivers will be rewarded with prize money, so the driver in 30th place will also receive 2,000 euros. This means that 333,500 euros are available per competition.

This year’s event starts with the Super-G on Friday, followed by the traditional downhill on the Streif on Saturday and the slalom on Sunday in Ganslerhang. The return of the Super-G to Kitzbühel replaces the double downhill run of previous years, which gave many riders anticipation.

Race director Mario Mittermayer-Weinhandl emphasized: “Due to the exclusivity, two descents were an inflation, against the background it is cool that we are on one descent again.” He was surprised by the athletes’ reaction: “Many are really looking forward to the Super-G because they really enjoy racing it here and for them it is one of the greatest ever.”
