The 5th stage of the Tour de France – Lille – Arenberg Port du Hainaut (157 km)

Status: 05.07.2022 11:48 p.m

Profile, animation and assessment – the 5th stage of the Tour de France 2022 at a glance

assessment: Similar to 2018, when the organizers included the cobblestone passages in the tour for the last time, the candidates for the overall ranking have to fear the unpredictable passages over the stone heads again this time. And unlike four years ago it will be even harder this time: the eleven passages are longer and even more selective than last time.

Loved and hated – the 5th stage of the Tour de France leads over the cobbled dirt roads in northern France.

The light climbers in particular will have problems staying on their bikes, while the classic specialists, with their power and stronger constitution, can set a good pace and blast the peloton early on. It’s quite clear: If you want to finish at the top of the tour, you have to be highly concentrated on the day and also have a little bit of luck. The finish of the stage is 500 meters before the famous Arenberg forest.
