No wonder: the authorities often lack important information about real estate. And many documents are only available in paper form.
In cadastral and land registry offices, documents are being digitized, but progress is slow. Property information is transmitted between authorities “mainly by paper”.
This was announced by the financial administration in response to an FDP request. In addition, there is often no information on the age of the building and types of use. Sibylle Meister (59, FDP) criticizes that there had been no usable data on the subject of property tax for decades.
“That may explain why people are so unsuspectingly marauding around in housing policy,” she says.
