That’s how many albums they’ve sold in their career

Rammstein have sold more than 20 million records over the course of their career – 9.9 million of them in Germany alone. This makes the band one of the biggest musical export hits that Germany has to offer. Because the musicians can also look forward to a loyal fan base in the USA, Great Britain and in many Eastern European countries.

The recent concerts in Munich have shown that despite the allegations made against Till Lindemann, there are still many supporters behind the singer and the band. Probably also because many fans have felt connected to the works of the artists for decades. In the following, ROLLING STONE has compiled a list of all Rammstein album releases – it shows which releases the band sold the most records with.

11th place: “Rammstein: Paris” (2017)

“Rammstein: Paris” was released on May 19, 2017, a live double album that is also available as an elaborately produced video album – a total of 70 different camera perspectives were used. The recordings come from the then Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy and were made in 2012. With over 200,000 copies sold, the band was able to celebrate platinum at the time.

10th place: “Dodgeball” (2006)

“Völkerball”, another live album by Rammstein, which was released in November 2006, went platinum twice. Sales at the time were more than 465,000 copies. The video album shows the six musicians on their world tour in 2005 – at that time they played in front of over a million spectators.

9th place: “Time” (2022)

The most recent work “Zeit” was released on April 29, 2022, has won gold three times to date and reached number one in the German charts. With more than 476,000 copies sold, one might think that the album was less successful than its predecessors, but it has to be said that the songs have been played between 18,200,000 and 76,400,000 times on Spotify alone.

8th place: “Rammstein” (2019)

For their officially untitled album, Rammstein received triple platinum in 2019, because the album sales totaled more than 900,000 records sold. The album featured songs such as “Deutschland” and “Ausländer”.

7th place: “Rosenrot” (2005)

Rammstein also achieved triple platinum with their album “Rosenrot”, which was released in 2005. The album with hits like “Benzin” and “Mann gegen Mann” sold more than a million copies worldwide. The band reached number one in the album charts in Germany, Austria, Estonia and Finland.

6th place: “Live from Berlin” (1999)

Rammstein’s most successful live album to date is “Live aus Berlin”, which was released in 1999. This allowed fans to listen to live recordings of songs from the two hit albums “Herzeleid” and “Sehnsucht”. Another bonus that boosted record sales was the track “Wilder Wein”, which had previously only been available as a B-side. Rammstein sold more than 1,100,000 copies – and achieved platinum status.

5th place: “Love is for everyone” (2009)

Seven times gold and more than 1,113,000 record sales – that is the result of “Love is for everyone”. The album was released in 2009 after Rammstein recorded the songs in California within six weeks. One of the best-known tracks is “Pussy”, a particularly provocative song that the band dropped from the live set due to the current situation.

4th place: “Journey, Journey” (2004)

With “Reise, Reise” Rammstein won gold seven times in 2004. The album, which features songs like “Mein Teil”, “Keine Lust”, “Amerika” and “Ohne dich”, sold more than 1,500,000 copies. In Germany, the release stayed in the top 100 for a total of 80 weeks.

3rd place: “Heartbreak” (1995)

“Herzeleid” is Rammstein’s debut album, which was released in 1995 and was awarded double platinum. In total, more than 1,535,000 copies were sold. At that time it was only enough for second place in the German album charts – even if songs like “Asche zu Asche” and “Du riechst so gut” are still fan favourites.

2nd place: “Mother” (2001)

Rammstein received triple platinum for the album “Mutter”, which was released in 2001. With 2,400,000 albums sold, it is one of the band’s most commercially successful releases – no wonder, because the first five songs on the album are all real Rammstein hits (“Mein Herz brennt”, “Links 2 3 4”, “Sonne” , “I want”, “Fire at will!”).

1st place: “Longing” (1997)

Rammstein’s most successful album by far, however, is “Sehnsucht” – the band’s second album, released in 1997. With 3,205,000 units sold, it brought quintuple gold in Germany, among other things. Included on it: “Angel”, “Buck you” and “You have”.
