Thanks to a transformed penalty of Marlon Ritter, the 1st FC Kaiserslautern won the first win of the season against FC Schalke 04. The FCK defeated the Schalke 1-0 (0-0) on the second matchday of the 2nd Bundesliga at home. Lautern’s captain Ritter scored the winning goal for the team of coach Torsten Lieberknecht in the 55th minute.

While the Palatinate was impressively back after the 0: 1 at the start of the season at Hannover 96, Königsblau collected the first damper of the season after the 2-1 against Hertha BSC.

Both teams played in the first half in the FRITZ Walter Stadium, sold out with 49,327. Dangerous penalty area scenes remained in short supply, both goalkeepers were hardly required. As a result, things went into the break.

After the restart, Kaiserslautern then took the lead. After a foul by Ron Schallenberg to Daniel Hanslik, referee Martin Petersen decided on a penalty. Knights converted this confidently. In the period that followed, the guests tried, but could not earn any significant options, so that the FCK was able to celebrate the first win of the season.
