By increasing the total amount, a total of 18 municipalities can receive a contribution from the 4th round of the Public Housing Fund (VHF). Minister of Housing and Spatial Planning, Mona Keijzer, announced this today in a letter to Parliament about the Public Housing Fund. With the contribution, these municipalities can renovate, make sustainable and restructure approximately 6,700 homes in the most vulnerable areas in the Netherlands. A total amount of €114 million was available in this round, but this amount has been increased to almost €150 million by using unused housing construction resources.
In the 4th application round, a total of 30 municipalities/regions submitted 36 applications that were submitted to the Housing Fund Assessment Committee. All applications met the assessment criteria, of which 31 applications received a positive recommendation. Because the available resources are not sufficient for all positively assessed applications, a ranking has been drawn up based on the advice of the Assessment Committee. This leads to the awarding of 20 applications, worth € 145.5 million, spread over 18 municipalities. The municipality of Weert receives a partial contribution due to the limited availability of resources. The actual total payout is €145.5 million because part of the available €150 million is transferred to the VAT compensation fund.

About the Public Housing Fund (VHF)
In the most vulnerable neighborhoods of the Netherlands, the quality of housing and the living environment is under pressure. With the VHF, the government is investing in improving the quality of life and safety in these neighborhoods. Municipalities can use contributions from the VHF to improve homes in these areas, so that the quality of life and safety there increases.
Between 2021 and 2024, the Housing Fund has made it possible for more than 50,000 homes in the Netherlands to be restructured for more than € 1 billion in the most vulnerable areas.
