Tension is rising on Texel, because the national arrival on November 15 is getting closer. Receiving Santa Claus is not just a simple job. Every effort is made to ensure a beautiful arrival for the good saint. Visitors are also taken into account: with the new website that the municipality is launching today, all information about the arrival is easy to find.

“With this arrival we want to show what we can achieve as a small community, around 14,000 residents,” says Mayor Mark Pol. “It is often a great marketing opportunity for other municipalities. We would like to show how hospitable we are, but it is also really a celebration for and by the people of Texel.”

Needs a lot of hands

It’s a huge event and there’s a lot of work to be done. Pol: “We now expect around 16,000 visitors. We base this on figures from accommodation providers, among other things. We want to offer them all a nice place in the port of Oudeschild.” When the arrival of Santa Claus was announced this summer, the holiday homes on Texel were opened booked en masse.
