Texas police set up committee to investigate response to Uvalde school shooting | Abroad

The police announcement comes a day after the Texas parliament released a report saying the high death toll was a result of poor leadership and “systematic failure.” The report concludes that “law enforcement officers have failed to adhere to their training” and “have not put saving lives above their own safety.”

The 77-page document further states that the 376 police officers rushed to the school in a chaotic manner. Of these, 91 were so-called ‘state troopers’, police officers employed by the state. In addition, according to the report, 149 federal border police officers and 41 officers from the region were present. Of the 376 officers, only six were employed by the school district. The school district police chief has been criticized in recent months for allegedly being in charge of the response to the shooting.
