The winter break is short. In the only test before the start of the second half of the season, the German record champions initially struggled. But then all the dams break.
FC Bayern’s easy win in the only friendly match during the winter break before the start of the second half of the Bundesliga season. The German record champions won 5-0 (1-0) at Red Bull Salzburg on Tuesday afternoon. Hiroki Itō (45th), Lennart Karl with a brace (72nd, 88th), youth player Felipe Chávez (75th) and Tom Bischof (90th + 2nd) scored a clear success. The game had to be interrupted for a moment shortly after the break because fans had set off pyrotechnics.
Jamal Musiala, who has been injured since the summer, has not yet celebrated his comeback. He still has “slight problems, but nothing dramatic,” said sports director Max Eberl on fcb.tv. Coach Vincent Kompany added: “If he gets a few minutes in one of the next three games, then we’ll be happy.” In front of 29,090 spectators, Kompany had to do without Musiala as well as captain Manuel Neuer, Joshua Kimmich, Alphonso Davies and Sacha Boey. “None of them will be missing in the long term,” said the coach, who is confident about the restart: the team is “really keen.”
However, the lead was a bit lucky, Salzburg had more of the game in the first half. In addition, Itō’s volley was deflected unsustainably by defender Jannik Schuster after a defensive action that was too short.
The Munich team played more dominantly after the break. Karl met a pass from Chávez from the center forward position before setting up the young Peruvian from Bayern’s regional league team to make it 3-0. Former Leverkusen player Kerim Alajbegovic (77th) hit the crossbar for RB with a free kick. But the Bavarians had the last word through Charles and Bishop.
The game can be read in the ticker.
90.+2. – There’s actually the fifth goal! Wonderfully prepared by Diaz, who uses Bishop in the penalty area with a lob. Bishop completes the final score.
90th minute of play – Three minutes are replayed.
89th minute of the game – Nothing comes from Salzburg anymore. The only question is whether Bayern will make the result even clearer.
88th minute of the game – And there it is! Karl scores again – even with his head! When a cross comes in, he stands unchallenged in the six-yard box and nods off.
86th minute of the game – Almost 4-0! Karl can be found everywhere offensively, crossing from the baseline to the far post in the penalty area. But a Bayern player doesn’t get enough pressure behind the ball with his head.
