Test match between Juventus Turin and Atlético Madrid in Tel Aviv canceled

Atlético Madrid and Juventus should actually play against each other in Tel Aviv. But that was canceled for security reasons.

The test match planned for Sunday between the top Spanish club Atlético Madrid and the Italian record champions Juventus Turin in Tel Aviv, Israel, has been canceled for security reasons. As the two football clubs announced on Saturday, the game will not take place due to the armed conflict between Israel and the Palestinian organization Islamic Jihad (PIJ).

For both teams it would have been the last endurance test before the start of the season. Atletico meet Getafe FC away on 15 August, while Juventus start their Italian championship campaign with a home game against Sassuolo Calcio on the same day.

The Bloomfield Stadium in Tel Aviv was the venue for the French Supercup last Sunday between champions Paris St. Germain and cup winners FC Nantes, which PSG won 4-0. On Friday, the conflict between Israel and the militant PIJ intensified.
