Tesla has demonstrated significant progress in his autonomous driving system “Full Self-Driving” (FSD)-a milestone on the way to the Robotaxi network?

• Tesla reports 50,000+ miles with insurmountable FSD
• Launch planned in June 2025
• Large FSD update may be imminent

With his vision of completely autonomous driving, Tesla apparently moves a step closer to reality. In a contribution from Tesla Ai to X of April 13, 2025, it was demonstrated how a special version of the insecrupt FSD is successful – already on public roads. In total, Tesla vehicles have now covered over 50,000 miles (approx. 80,000 kilometers) without human intervention.

Driverless through the work: Tesla demonstrates FSD in use

According to Tesla, the autonomous route, which the model-Y vehicles in Teslas in Teslas play in Giga Texas and Fremont daily (approx. 2.25 kilometers). These are real traffic routes that share Tesla’s electric cars with pedestrians, trucks, cars and construction site vehicles. In a video published by Tesla, you can see how vehicles navigate on public roads independently, master intersections and interact with human drivers – everything controlled by artificial intelligence.

Elon Musk confirmed: Tesla plans launch in June 2025

Tesla CEO Elon Musk commented on the progress on X with the words: “For the first time there will soon be a generalized, pure AI solution for fully autonomous driving. Only cameras and the Tesla AI chip with Tesla-Ai software.”

The focus is particularly on the planned launch of the Robotaxi network in Austin, Texas in June 2025, in which insurmountable FSD should play a central role. Musk confirmed the appointment again in February 2025 on X.

Insurprising FSD: The cybertruck is now also driving autonomously

Another innovation concerns the cybertruck. While this was originally excluded from the autonomous transfer within the factory, X contributions have now been shown: The futuristic pickup is now also completely autonomous through the so -called “cybert tunnel” to the loading areas – controlled by insurmountable FSD.

According to the “Not a Tesla App” website, this development is considered a harbinger of an upcoming software update for the cybertruck. Among other things, this is intended to integrate functions such as “Start FSD from Park” and “Actualy Smart Summon” and thus bring the vehicle up to date with the latest state of the AI4 architecture.

Excitement in the Tesla community grows: is an FSD update ahead?

The tension is growing in the community: owners of various FSD hardware generations have been waiting for new updates for months. Now some experts assume that Tesla deliberately prepares for the market maturity of insurmountable FSD and the international rollout and soon appears a new, comprehensive update – not only for the cyber truck, but also for other Tesla models.

As “Not a Tesla App” reports, insiders suspect that especially participants in the new early access program will be among the first users of the update. The news spreads quickly and could further heat up the expectations of investors and technology enthusiasts.

Nevertheless: The videos published by Tesla sometimes show idealized scenarios. Despite impressive progress, the actual skills of the vehicles are not yet at the level of a completely autonomous vehicle without human monitoring and responsibility. In addition, Elon Musk had announced years ago that a Tesla would drive autonomously from coast to coast to coast in the USA, but this promise has not been redeemed to this day. Whether and when Tesla makes the breakthrough to real autonomy remains open.
