With a goal by Michael Gregoritsch in the 35th minute, SC Freiburg took the lead against Donyell Malen’s Borussia Dortmund. The former PSV player eventually left in the 70th minute and was replaced by 17-year-old Youssoufa Moukoko, who had to help Borussia Dortmund make up the 1-0 deficit.
Got the greatest help BVB so, however, from SC Freiburg goalkeeper Fleks. Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, who also came in as substitute, made an attempt from distance in the 77th minute and the eighteen-year-old Englishman saw how Fleks let the ball slip through his hands. SC Freiburg had everything under control, but suddenly the score was balanced again.
After that 1-1, SC Freiburg, where Ritsu Doan had a base place, was completely lost and Borussia Dortmund managed to fish in the full loot. Moukoko topped off his substitute with the 2-1, after which another substitute – Marius Wolf – took care of the 3-1 final score.
The German media were logically ready to point out Fleks’ blunder and speak of a real Flekken-Flutscher.
Goal scorer Gregoritsch acknowledged that Flek’s blunder changed everything, but he also stood up for the goalkeeper: ,,After a goal like that you are of course a bit upset. It’s a shame that happens Flekki normally not. We don’t blame him. He has made many good saves and we must not give up the game completely. We just have to get at least a point here,” he said DAZN.
