Andy Murray is in the final of the Stuttgart tennis tournament after beating Nick Kyrgios. There Murray meets Matteo Berrettini on Sunday, who defeated the German participant Oscar Otte.

Two-time Wimbledon winner Andy Murray is in the final of the ATP tournament at Stuttgart’s Weissenhof, where he meets Italian Matteo Berrettini. After beating Oscar Otte from Cologne 7: 6 (9: 7) and 7: 6 (7: 5), Murray won his semi-final against Australian Nick Kyrgios 7: 6 (7: 5) and 6: 2. For Murray it is the 70th final of his career, including the tenth on grass. After a balanced first set, the tie-break ended ugly. At the last rally, Kyrgios bounced the ball because of a mistake and the Australian smashed his racquet. For this he was penalized with a point deduction.

At the beginning of the second round, Kyrgios also messed with the audience, insulted them and was deducted to make it 0: 2. After that, the match was about to be abandoned because the Australian didn’t want to get used to the course of the game, talked to himself and moaned. He played the game listlessly to the end and was whistled goodbye by the audience. “It wasn’t fun at the end. The second set wasn’t a real match. The end of the first set was decisive,” Murray commented on the game on “Servus TV”.

Oscar Otte misses the final

The German tennis pro Oscar Otte missed the first entry into the final of an ATP tournament. Despite a good performance, the 28-year-old lost to Wimbledon finalist Matteo Berrettini 6: 7 (7: 9), 6: 7 (5: 7). For Otte, it was the second semi-final of his career. The top four ended at the tournament in Munich at the end of April. In the coming world rankings, Otte could be among the top 50 for the first time, and if he won a tournament in Stuttgart, he could even have jumped into the top 35.

Otte loses both sets in the tie-breaker

Otte kept up well against the favorite Berrettini and missed a set point in the tie-break of the first round. Both players dominated on their own serve, only Otte had to fend off a breakball against himself. Italy’s Berrettini will face two-time Wimbledon champion Andy Murray (Great Britain) in the final.
