After her maternity break, things are going better for tennis star Naomi Osaka. But privately she now announced her separation from her partner.
Tennis star Naomi Osaka and US rapper Cordae have separated. The four-time Grand Slam winner announced the end of the relationship on Instagram. The 27-year-old emphasized that there was no bad blood between them: “He’s a great person and a great father.” In July 2023 she gave birth to their daughter Shai.
In her message, Osaka expressed gratitude for the time she spent with Cordae. “I’m really glad our paths crossed because my daughter is the greatest gift and I’ve grown a lot through our shared experiences,” she wrote, ending her message with a red heart. Cordae has not yet commented publicly on the separation.
In terms of sport, Osaka recently made a strong comeback after her maternity break. At the tournament in Auckland she reached a final for the first time. But after winning the first set against Denmark’s Clara Tauson, she had to retire due to an injury. This development raises questions about her physical condition as the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam tournament of the year, begins on Sunday.
Cordae, the 27-year-old rapper, rose to fame with his debut album “The Lost Boy,” which was released in 2019 and earned him two Grammy nominations. He was a regular supporter of Osaka during her playing career and was often seen at her matches. He particularly cheered her on from the stands during her US Open triumph in 2020.
