Australian tennis professional Bernard Tomic has become a father for the first time. Over Easter, the 33-year-old’s partner announced the great news, which the couple had kept secret for nine months.

Surprising offspring on the tennis circuit: Bernard Tomic and his partner Keely Hannah became parents for the first time over Easter.

“The most beautiful secret we’ve ever kept to ourselves,” Hannah wrote on Instagram alongside a picture of her daughter Astara Aurelia Tomic, who was born on April 5th.

Tennis star keeps pregnancy secret

Both Tomic and Hannah had not made their pregnancy public in recent months. The tennis star’s girlfriend, who previously published regular posts on Instagram, last spoke on the social media platform in July 2025. After that there was radio silence. Now it’s clear why.

Tomic and Hannah have been a couple for around four years. They made headlines in June 2024, among other things, when they had an argument during a Tomic match. Hannah was sitting in the stands at the ATP tournament in Arkansas when a verbal argument broke out.

The former world number 17 has made a sporting appearance. Not for a long time now. Tomic is now only ranked 191st in the ATP rankings. The last time the Australian was among the 100 best players in the world was in 2018.

Tomic becomes a tennis bad boy

Over the course of his career, Tomic won four titles on the ATP tour. He triumphed twice in Bogotá, once each in Sydney and Chengdu. He played his most successful Grand Slam tournament in Wimbledon in 2011, when he made it to the quarterfinals.

Over the years, the Australian has earned a reputation as a bad boy for a number of reasons. In 2013, among other things, he was sentenced to eight months in prison for assault. In 2019 he was stripped of his prize money at Wimbledon for unsportsmanlike conduct. He had already publicly stated that he never loved the sport of tennis and never gave more than 50 percent.
