TENNIS – The women of TC Bargeres have become champions in the main division this afternoon. The team of coach Ruud Koning had to win three games against Nootdorp to secure the title. After three matches, the loot was already in.
Before the game, Koning noticed that there was more pressure on his team than usual. “I notice that the girls are tense, but we have beaten that out with the preparation. If we just do our thing, it should be fine”, Koning says before the first match.
Niloufas Shahanggir, seemed to start her match without nerves. Opponent Stefanie Grudeken didn’t stand a chance and was 6-0 and 5-0 behind in no time. Shahanggir served up the match expertly and won with a double bagel, 6-0, 6-0.
The second game is a lot more exciting. Celeste Bergsma took on the experienced Olga van der Bos. Bergsma, who is only 14 years old, won the exciting first set in the tiebreak. In the second set emotions sometimes ran high (was a ball out or not?). At 5-3 and 30-0 in Bergsma’s favour, another discussion arose, after which Bos resigned and congratulated Bergsma.
Kris Rewinkel took the decisive third point for TC Bargeres by beating Annique Bosman 6-2 and 6-1, after which promotion to the Eredivisie was a fact and the party started.
The other three matches, Leonie Bisschop’s last singles match and two doubles, were also won convincingly, so that Nootdorp was sent home with a 6-0 loss.
