Tennis player Max Houkes from Sleen dies in the quarterfinals of the Dutch Open

TENNIS – Max Houkes from Sleen failed to reach the semifinals of the Dutch Open in Amersfoort. The 22-year-old tennis player lost to the Russian Ivan Gakhov. The Dutchman was defeated by Gakhov 2-6, 7-6 and 6-7.

Houkes participates with a wildcard in the Dutch Open, which takes place in Amersfoort. In the first round he defeated Timofey Skatov (number 227 in the world), in the second round Houkes beat Spaniard Carlos Taberner (number 94 in the world). He himself is the 783rd in the world.

The Dutch Open is part of the ATP Challenger Tour. That is the second-highest level of competitions of the ATP. It is the first time that Houkes has played at this level.
