Tennis player Alcaraz to ninth place in the world ranking

Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz has risen to ninth place in the world rankings. The only 18-year-old Alcaraz won the Barcelona clay tournament last weekend.

Alcaraz is the youngest player to reach the top 10 of the global ranking since Rafael Nadal in 2005. His illustrious compatriot also did so after winning the tournament in Barcelona.

Botic van de Zandschulp improved his best ranking by one place. He is now the world number 40. Van de Zandschulp did not play in Barcelona last week. He will participate in Munich this week. Tallon Groet is the number 56 in the world ranking. He also rose one place.

In the women’s league, the Polish Iga Swiatek solidified her number 1 position by winning the WTA tournament in Stuttgart. Behind her is the Spanish Paula Badosa the new number 2. Badosa switched places with the Czech Barbora Krejcikova, who is now third.

Arantxa Rus is the best Dutch tennis player in 74th place.
